Cottage Park is located on Cottage Way (between Watt and Fulton) across from Kaiser Morse Hospital.
You can find shaded parking and park closer to where we will be on the other side of the park by taking Morse Avenue off El Camino (left on Morse from Watt, Right on Morse from Fulton) and go to the end of the street - parking lot will be on the left.
For more information please call Jaye at (916) 613-5210
or e-mail at IBCLC@breastfeedingnetwork.net
Cost:
There is no cost to join us at group, however, donations are appreciated. All donations are put into a fund to help pay consult fees for moms who just cannot afford a full consult fee. Being able to see moms at a reduced cost has been a goal of mine for many years - this fund will help me fulfill that goal. To donate on-line please go to my on-line store www.shop.breastfeedingnetwork.net and click on the Donation link. Donations are in $1 increments.
To date (June 23, 2008) 4 moms in need have been helped. This is a big deal to those moms and they have been very appreciative to our group for it's support.
Thank you for your generosity!
Group Details:
This group is for ALL Moms - regardless of how you are feeding your baby. While we have a majority of breastfeeding moms, we also have moms who need to supplement for a variety of reasons. Plain and simple: we are here to support you!
There is no judgement allowed! If you are a woman with a baby you are welcome regardless of race, religion or sexuality. We are quite an eclectic group with a little bit of everything and we really do have a good time!
Sometimes breastfeeding doesn't start out right and we have challenges that leave us wondering what is "Normal Breastfeeding"? This is a great place to come and have those questions answered!
Sometimes Breastfeeding starts out just fine and there are no challenges - but we still wonder what is "normal breastfeeding" as there seem to be so many conflicting ideas and opinions. And sadly, our society seems to have forgotten what normal is when it comes to feeding our babies the way they expect - at the breast.
Sometimes we do things in a manner that other's don't' quite understand - like pumping and bottle feeding exclusively. And sometimes things just don't go as planned and breastfeeding continues to be a challenge or just doesn't work out and we have to supplement with formula or donor milk.
No worries! Come join us and feel 'normal' and understood. Our group has the best moms! We have all been through something at one time or another - there is no judgment of our differences - only acceptance and a desire to support you in your journey. Our group has the unique ability to have individual opinions that differ from each other without taking anything personally or judging someone for being different. It is refreshing!
Since we just don't see normal breastfeeding on a regular basis (yet!) it can be a bit of a mystery to know what is normal and what isn't. Come join us in that discovery - what is normal for one isn't necessarily normal for another! Now how is that for confusing? But this is part of what makes parenting such a fun adventure...
If you are having frustrations and need a place to ask questions, talk and heal or just want to have some fun - come join us! We welcome you and look forward to seeing you!
Warmly,
Jaye and The Group
